Automated database backup SaaS

Overview
Automated, encrypted backups for PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, SQLite, Firebase and Supabase to Google Cloud Storage, with flexible scheduling, one-click restore, a multi-database dashboard and email/webhook alerts. Two-app architecture (Next.js + Express), BullMQ/Redis job queues and two payment providers.
Highlights
- 01Backups for six sources: PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, SQLite, Firebase and Supabase, stored in Google Cloud Storage
- 02Express + TypeScript backend in a model–controller–processor structure, with singleton connection management for Redis, Supabase and GCS
- 03BullMQ/Redis worker that runs backups immediately or on schedule, retries up to three times with exponential backoff, and tracks each job from pending to completed or failed
- 04Next.js App Router dashboard with Supabase Auth, TanStack Query, React Hook Form + Zod and shadcn/ui
- 05Billing through Stripe and Lemon Squeezy; API hardened with Helmet and rate limiting

My role
Full-stack engineer (team project)
Worked on the product as part of a small team. I built the transactional email and notification system, with backup and account email templates in both the Next.js app and the Express worker and in-app notifications, plus dashboard settings and data hooks.
